Independent developer wins regional award for third consecutive year

Dorchester-based C G Fry & Son has for the third year running won a top industry regional award for the medium size house builder category for their site at Balidon Place, Yeovil. Judges in the ‘Pride in the Job’ competition organised by the National House Building Council (NHBC) voted Fry’s building site manager Nathan Pyett as this year’s South West regional winner in the category for medium-sized building.

The awards made from an initial pool of over 13,000 site managers across the UK chose Nathan as one of the top-performing site managers to receive a 2012 Pride in the Job...

Be safe in heavy rainfall and potential flooding

Yesterday Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service received over 90 weather related calls. These including over 20 calls to vehicles in water, 29 calls involving domestic flooding, one horse rescue and further calls (including duplicate calls) to report flooding.

The Met Office are predicting further periods of heavy rain today and Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service are urging people to be aware of possible flooding and reminding drivers not to risk their lives by driving through any flood water.

Service supports charity Teddy Bear event

The fourth Teddy Bear Parachute Jump event is taking place in the grounds of Exeter Cathedral on Saturday 13 October, 11am–3pm.

The Rotary Clubs of Exeter have organised the event with the permission of the Cathedral authorities and the proceeds will be divided between The Exeter Cathedral Third Millennium Campaign and The Bramble Ward which is the children's ward at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital.

There will be children’s entertainment around the Cathedral, Bearamy Bear from Build-A-Bear and Blaze Bear from the Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service...
