Margay kitten ventures out!

Staff at Shaldon Wildlife Trust are excited to be seeing Harley, the Margay kitten exploring his outside enclosure. Harley has been snuggled up in his heated den area with mum Josefien for the past few months as he would be in the wild.

Margay are also known as the Tree Ocelot; they have flexible ankles allowing them to run head first down trees. One of only 3 species known to do this! Harley is having great fun learning all the tricks of becoming an independent cat!

In the wild Margay have a very varied diet including small mammals, birds, primates, eggs and frogs!...

Teignbridge retains Blue Flag and Seaside Awards

Teignbridge’s beaches have once again been recognised for being among the best in the UK following the annual Blue Flag and Seaside Awards, run by Keep Britain Tidy.

Dawlish Warren has been awarded Blue Flag status for the 19th year running and Teignmouth Town Beach, Coryton Cove at Dawlish and Dawlish Main Beach and Ness Cove at Shaldon have won Seaside Awards.

The announcements come just as the summer season gets underway with beaches and resorts hoping for another lively bank holiday this coming weekend.

The Taste of the Teign food and drink festival (19-25 September) is launching with a sprat to catch a mackerel this coming Monday (19th September) when twenty tonnes of freshly caught sprats will be landed at Teignmouth’s New Fish Quay ready to be sizzled and sampled by the public.

Three green champions raise £5,000 for charity
