Exeter School Pupil Fundraises for Memory Café

An Exeter School pupil has been supporting the Honiton Memory Café in their efforts to fundraise and build awareness around dementia and Alzheimer's.

Sixth Former Richard Baker has been supporting the Honiton Memory Café because he enjoys helping others. He has attended some of the social events that the Memory Café runs for carers and their cared-for and is helping to publicise a charity art auction that is taking place at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery (THG) on Friday 25 April to raise funds.

Exeter College celebrates 'Oustanding' from Ofsted

Exeter College students and staff are celebrating after being rated as outstanding by education inspectors. The college, which was also rated outstanding by Ofsted less than two years ago, has become the first college in Devon and Cornwall to reach the standard under a new ratings framework. It makes it the only education provider to gain this highest accolade in two different inspections in less than two years. Possible Mumps outbreak at Clyst Vale College

A possible outbreak of mumps at Clyst Vale Community College in Broadclyst has seen health authorities ask the public to check they have had two doses of the MMR vaccine. In all twenty possible cases have been reported at Clyst Vale affecting both students and teachers and has been connected to Cullompton Rugby Club who cancelled games on Saturday 1st March to reduce the risk of further infection. The Public Health Team at Devon County Council are now working with Public Health England to inform people that two doses of the MMR vaccine are needed to protect against the virus causing mumps...

Children and teachers at Exeter School were recently provided with expert advice on year round sun protection and problematic skin conditions, courtesy of Skin Angels, a team of campaigning beauty therapists from Exeter.

West Exe gets glowing report from Ofsted

West Exe College has received a “good” rating from education inspectors.

A team of inspectors from regulator Ofsted visited the school for two days in an announced inspection in mid-January in which they obsered lessons and met with students and staff.

In their report, inspectors praised the good progress made among all students including those with special educational needs or disabilities, commenting: “Individual students’ needs are very well understood and skilled support is quickly put in place when necessary.”

A new headteacher has been appointed at St Peters School in Exeter.

She is Rachel Hutchinson, who is currently vice principal of King Edward VI Community College in Totnes. Mrs Hutchinson will take up her new post after the Easter holidays. Young environmentalists from Alphington Primary School are among the first children to visit the WWF Experience in the charity’s new headquarters in Woking.
