Devon based Marine guilty of murdering injured prisoner

A Devon based Royal Marine has been found guilty of murder after shooting dead an injured prisoner in 2011. Two other marines were acquitted at the Military Court Centre in Wiltshire. The marines known only as Marines A, B, and C due to an anonymity order placed due to fears for the safety of their family. Two further marines, known only as Marines D and E, had charges against them dropped in connection to the case. The Commandant of the nearby Marine training centre has given permission for civilians to attempt the very same training course that the Royal Marines use each and every day.

In a moving presentation to Exeter Enterprise Rotary Club, Lt. Colonel Gary Green spoke about how he responded to a personal tragedy in his own life caused by the death from cancer of his wife four years ago. The C Group is a Royal Marines charity that inspires business to support Royal Marines in need whilst they are serving, in transition to civilian life and thereafter. We do this by asking businesses for in kind support in the form of mentoring, internships and permanent jobs.

To support the 350th Anniversary of the formation of the Royal Marines in October 2014, there is an urgent need to recruit 350 runners / walkers to fundraise for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund and to travel to Gibraltar to take on the famous Rock Run.

Trafalgar Day Service celebrates great victory

Every year, since 1973, the Exeter Flotilla has held a Trafalgar Day Service in Exeter Cathedral to celebrate Lord Nelson’s great victory in 1805.

This year on Trafalgar Day, Sunday the 21st October the White Ensign will once again fly over the Cathedral.

The service starts at 11.30 am and will be attended by the Lord Lieutenant of Devon, the Lord Mayor of Exeter and the Deputy Lord Mayor, and Senior Royal Naval and Royal Marine Officers.
