Your chance to quiz councillors

People in Exeter are being given the chance to quiz councillors on any “burning” issues for the city.

Exeter residents are invited to put forward questions to members of the joint County and City Councils' Exeter Board, at their next meeting on 25 November at 6pm in the Civic Centre in Paris Street.

The Board allocates 15 minutes for their ‘open forum’, with 3 minutes per speaker, with a maximum of three to four speakers to allow time for discussion.

Work to find out more about the cost of living in Exeter continues to take place following the conclusion of a comprehensive survey.

The University of Exeter carried out the research on behalf of Exeter City Council into the impact that low wages and high costs of living has on people living in Exeter. The work is part of a City Council-led Cost of Living Forum which was set up last year.

Worrying increase in debt problems among Exeter residents

There has been a dramatic upsurge in debt worries among people in the Exeter area, according to new figures released by StepChange Debt Charity. In the first six months of this year, 648 residents in the Exeter postcode area sought debt advice from the charity’s helpline compared to 580 in the same period last year, an increase of 12 per cent.

East Devon District Council is inviting all residents of Axmouth Parish, plus voluntary and community groups and other local organisations, to send their ideas to Axmouth Parish Council on how £3,450 can be spent on sport in the area.
