A dark contemporary myth about England featuring highly physical storytelling, film and animation by the former director of Bike Shed Associate Company, Rhum and Clay (64 Squares, A Strange Wild Song, Shutterland).

Nature Knows Best

TicTac Theatre (which stands for two is company three’s a crowd theatre) is an emerging theatre company based in Exeter that specialises in two-handers and multi role productions.

TicTac’s repertoire includes a mixture of classical and contemporary plays.

TicTac Theatre will soon be undertaking its third production “Nature Knows Best”.

“Nature Knows Best” is a compilation of three short comedy plays by Devonshire playwright Nick Discombe. Each play portrays a day in the life of three different animal couplings.

Meet Nel: a foley artist. Don't know what that is? Don't worry, not many do. Nel brings life to films through sound. In her world a tyre screech is a hot water-bottle and an epic fight scene is a symphony of snapping celery and frozen cabbages. But her real world isn't turning out so well. Her cat has died and she’s accidentally poisoned her fish.

She needs a friend and maybe a change of shoes.

Meet Nel; a quirky, shy foley artist, who, for the first time in her life finds herself completely alone. Her cat’s died and she accidentally poisoned her fish. She needs a friend. But she is afraid. And finding a friend in today’s world is more than a little stressful. Especially for someone who spends her day recording sounds with vegetables in a box. She needs help.

Struggling she starts to steal from her filmic world in a bid to connect with others. A world of car chases, explosions and dramatic underscoring. What could possibly go wrong?
