Devon business helps Olympic Legacy live on

Just over one year on from the Olympics, Aspects Pools, a local swimming pool provider, is doing their bit to carry on the Olympic legacy. The Devon-based outfit has just completed an innovative competition for the British Water Polo Community.

The competition challenged water polo teams to reach out to their local communities, and raise awareness of the sport. Teams had to encourage local people to nominate them to win a £1500 contribution – paid in full by Aspect Pools – to their British National League entry fees: there were over 1500 entries, and British Water polo League...

To celebrate Wimbledon finals weekend Handmade Arcade, Exeter's monthly handmade and arts market, will have a Wimbledon theme including tennis-themed activities to raise money for local charity, Hospiscare.

The market will be held in McCoy's Arcade, Fore Street in Exeter on Saturday 6 July from 10am to 5pm.

Enjoy a browse at the array of stalls selling original art, jewellery, vinyl and gifts. Take a break with a coffee and cake from the Real McCoy Cafe or indulge in strawberries and cream and a glass of Pimms from the Bikeshed Theatre.

Exeter tennis club celebrates Olympic legacy funding

Victoria Park Tennis Club in St Leonard’s, Exeter, has secured Olympic legacy funding of £50,000 from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund. Sport England today revealed that more than 1,000 local sports projects across the country have now received National Lottery funding through Inspired Facilities, which is part of the £150 million Places People Play legacy programme. Every sports facility that receives funding will carry the London 2012 Inspire mark, celebrating the link to the Games. The funding means the tennis club will be able to extend the clubhouse to put in disabled access...

Jo Pavey backs Devon's Olympic 2012 legacy

Devon County Council has today (Wed 17 October, 2012) confirmed its commitment to making the most of this summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games by pledging £310,000 to a 2012 Legacy plan for grassroots sport in the county. The announcement was made at a joint launch event with the County Sports Partnership, Active Devon, with whom the Council will be joining forces to implement the plan.
