Sheep Return to Bideford Bridge in Celebration of 555 Years of Westcountry Wool Heritage

A centuries-old tradition will return to North Devon when sheep are driven across Bideford Bridge during the Bideford Town Fair on Saturday 6 June at 10.00am.

The ceremonial sheep drive, last undertaken in 2012, will be led by the historic Incorporation of Weavers, Fullers and Shearmen as part of celebrations marking 555 years since the Guild was gifted land in Exeter on which it built the magnificent Tuckers Hall - the medieval home of the Incorporation and one of the country’s most important surviving guild halls.

Construction of the Enterprise Centre on the outskirts of Barnstaple has been completed.

Main contractor ISG – appointed to the scheme via the Southern Construction Framework (SCF) – has constructed the Enterprise Centre at Devon County Council’s Roundswell Enterprise Park development, and today formally handed over the building to TownSq who will be running the centre on behalf of the County Council.

Stagecoach SW announces major uplift to bus services

Stagecoach South West has announced that, in light of the recent government announcement to relax retail restrictions, from 14th June 2020 they will be introducing a major uplift to their services with some of routes returning to their normal timetables. The bus operator has confirmed changes have been made on board their vehicles to enable social distancing to take while travelling with them. To allow passengers to travel safely, some of their seats are blocked off to enable people to sit at least 2 metres away from each other.

It's much quieter in and around the North Devon coastline during the autumn and winter months, into early spring. The roads, beaches, surf, golf courses, paths, trails and pubs are quieter. The heat, lush green and, at the same time, sun washed colours of summer have been replaced by the cool, moody tones and crisp colours of autumn and winter. Spectators have 174km (108miles) of Devon’s roads to choose from when it comes to watching the Devon Stage Tour of Britain on Monday 3 September.

Police appeal after spate of dog thefts

Police are appealing to the public for information following several reports of theft of dogs from North and South Molton.

The first incident happened at the kennels on The Square in North Molton on Friday 15 December between 9am and 5pm.

Three dogs were all pedigree cocker spaniels. The first dog was a small female seven-year-old black Devonshire Faith spaniel, the second dog was an 18-month-old black Hillside Harriet female with a white bib, and the third dog was a gold Badgeberry Troufseau Hope spaniel.
