SW sees spike in NHS patient satisfaction amid COVID-19 pandemic

New data from Patient Experience Platform (PEP) has shown that NHS patient satisfaction has hit 91% in South West England, a year-on-year increase of 12.9%. The increase sees the region once again ranked highest for patient satisfaction.

The findings come at a time of overwhelming general positivity towards the NHS, as front-line healthcare professionals continue to deliver essential treatment alongside the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Patients who are worried they are being ‘burden’ on the NHS are being reassured that safe, local health services are there for them.

There has been a significant decline in people seeking urgent and emergency treatment across the country since the beginning of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Doctors in Devon have noted a decrease in attendances across both GP practices and hospitals, and they are concerned that delays in getting treatment due to coronavirus fears pose a long term risk to people’s health.

NHS Blood and Transplant is appealing to blood donors to make appointments to donate blood.

The next session taking place in Exeter is on Sunday 31 May at Exeter Corn Exchange, between 9.55am andf 2.25pm. Currently this session is 59% full.

Medical Imaging students graduate early online to support NHS with COVID-19

Medical Imaging students from the University of Exeter Medical School who opted to graduate early had an online ceremony to qualify as diagnostic radiographers during the COVID-19 crisis.

32 final year Medical Imaging students joined the online graduation, some even fashioned home-made mortarboards and gowns, to celebrate their graduation on the virtual platform with peers and lecturers.

Doctors in Devon are reassuring local people that the NHS is still there for them if they are unwell and need help, but reminding them that opening hours for some services may be different due to the bank holiday weekend.

GP practices will be closed on Monday 25 May for the bank holiday, but other services are available for people with urgent health needs over the holiday period.

The advice for people this weekend is:

Your holiday is on us, Devon park tells crisis heroes

Seventy-five nights of happy holidays have been handed to NHS workers by Devon's Ladram Bay Holiday Park as a "thank you" for their dedication and bravery.

The family business said it wanted to give away a free night's stay for every one of the past 75 years it has been welcoming guests to its seaside park in Budleigh Salterton.
