Exeter biker organises world's first global motorbike ride in memory of those lost during pandemic

An ambitious worldwide memorial motorbike ride is to take place on Sunday 5th September 2021 following the sun across 99 countries, starting in New Zealand, and ending in Alaska in memory of those we have lost through the pandemic.

Ride Global is the brainchild of David Greensmith, who lives and works in Exeter, Devon, following the sudden and unexpected death of Alan Lewis, a family member through Covid-19. Biker Down team deliver vital information

The Road Safety Team at Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service have been successfully delivering free ‘Biker Down’ workshops across Devon and Somerset since 2015. During this time 501 motorcyclists have completed the workshops.

Each workshop is split into three sessions comprising of: road traffic collision scene management, first aid and the science of being seen. The sessions are designed with bikers in mind and tailored to deliver vital information, plus lifesaving skills in what to do at the scene of any road traffic collision.

Exeter Charity Motorbike Show

This year’s exciting annual Exeter Charity Motorbike Show is on Sunday 6 August. Everyone is welcome, whether you ride a motorbike or just fancy a fun afternoon out.

This is the fourth year the event has happened. There will be hundreds of motorbikes of all types from trikes and cruisers to sports bikes and the more vintage two wheeled machines turning up to help raise money for charity. Biking Santas make a sight for sore eyes!

There was a sight to see around Exeter on Sunday 4 December for those doing some Christmas shopping as motorbikers dressed as Santas, Mrs Santa, elves and a christmas tree went through the city in convoy, taking part in a festive ride with a difference!

The riders were on their way from their meeting place at Exeter Services to deliver Christmas toys and donations to youngsters with life-limiting illnesses at the Little Bridge South West Children’s Hospice in North Devon.

Free Biker Down course for motorcyclists

The Devon County Show proved the ideal environment for Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Motorcycle advocates to advise on Motorbike safety, especially a new course called ‘Biker Down’ run by firefighters, which will take place on Saturday, June 6.

Motorbiking Easter bunnies' special delivery

A motorbike ride with a special chocolatey difference took place on Easter Sunday this year with riders delivering chocolate Easter eggs to youngsters with life-limiting illnesses at Little Bridge House, Children’s Hospice South West.

There were an amazing 58 motorbikes including a few scooters, a couple of trikes and even a motorbike with a trailer containing a couple of dogs enjoying a beautiful day out!

Can you ride to save a life?

Devon’s medical courier service, Devon Freewheelers, is on the lookout for new riders in all parts of the county.

The charity provides a free out-of-hours service to the NHS delivering blood, tissue samples, breast milk and other medical supplies to hospitals across Devon. Many lives have been saved through swift delivery of critical items.

All riders are volunteers who give up their own time to help keep the service running. They use the charity’s own liveried motorbikes to ensure deliveries are made as quickly as possible.
