Exeter Greens have accused Exeter City Council of pruning tree staff to the bare minimum and say that a lack of investment is leaving communities in the dark about when and why trees are being cut down.

Exeter Green Party has discovered that 150 trees have been cut down in conservation areas alone in the past year, with countless others lost across the city. Exeter’s tree cover stands at just over 22% and includes some rare, culturally and locally significant trees.

Exeter Green Party have launched their manifesto for the City Council elections under the banner 'development today as if tomorrow matters'.

The Party calls for urgent new and imaginative ways to build and deliver affordable housing, pointing to the fact that Exeter has been identified as the third most unaffordable place in the South West to rent and one of the most expensive in which to buy. Candidates urged to back SW investment opportunity

Regen SW has today written to MPs and Parliamentary candidates in the south west urging them to support the development of a world-leading renewable energy industry in the next Parliament by signing the South West Renewable Energy 2015 General Election Manifesto.

Candidates have been asked to pledge their support for the manifesto's eight specific commitments, which could help deliver to the south west more than £10 billion of investment, 34,000 jobs and energy security to thousands of local communities.

The new leader of the Green Party of England and Wales, Natalie Bennett, is visiting Devon Today (Tuesday 5 March) to launch the Green Party Manifesto for Devon for the May Devon County Council elections.

Help needed for underwater habitats and wildlife

The Marine Conservation Society (MCS), the UK’s leading marine charity, says reefs, eelgrass beds, cuttlefish, crawfish and short snouted seahorses are among the south Devon underwater habitats and wildlife that need better protection from damaging activities.
