Lottery grant will help stage Exeter Pride

Next Saturday, 16 May, Exeter Pride will kick off the Pride season in the UK - and it has just received National Lottery funding to help stage the event.

This will be the seventh Exeter Pride and it will be the biggest free celebration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities the county has seen to date.

In addition to receiving more than £4,000 thanks to a National Lottery Awards for All grant, Exeter Pride has recently also become a registered charity.

The Lord Mayor of Exeter will sound an air horn to start the South West's biggest free celebration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities in the region.

Councillor Rachel Lyons will, at noon, start the largest rainbow flag parade the city has seen as part of Exeter Pride on Saturday 10 May.

Preparations are well in hand for what will be the sixth Exeter Pride.
