Killerton National Trust estate near Exeter has been declared ‘the perfect place for Nordic walking’ by Nordic Walking Devon.
Nordic walking is a full body exercise with specially designed poles that propel you forward as you walk. It’s a form of outdoor fitness that is easy on the joints because the poles take the weight off the knees and lower body joints which make you feel lighter on your feet. You work the entire major muscles in the body burning 20% - 40% more calories, yet strangely it feels easier than ordinary walking.
Autumn is all about celebrating the fruits of the harvest before the more severe winter months kick in, but more than that it is an opportunity to get together with friends and family to have fun in the countryside. Nordic walking burns up to 40% more calories than ordinary walking. Join qualified Nordic walking instructor Fiona Swan for the two-part Nordic Walking UK training course on Saturday 9 March from noon-2pm.
Suitable for people aged 16-plus of all fitness levels, walking poles will be provided. To book your place call 07531 729383. Entrance into Killerton grounds is included in the price of this course.
Plant a memory and leave a lasting tribute to someone special by planting snowdrops in the chapel grounds.
Bring a trowel and the family to help our gardeners create a spectacular annual display of snowdrops at Killerton. £1 per person as a donation with a special snowdrop memory certificate.
