The Co-operative Bank has given £200 to Kenyan Educational Sponsorship community group which is dedicated to helping young people in Kenya achieve their academic potential, enabling them to realise their ambitions and make the most of their lives. They are currently sponsoring three bright but extremely poor students Marcy, Alfred and Vivian.

Thie £200 donation from Co-operative Bank’s Customer Donation Fund will help support these three academically talented students who come from impoverished village communities in Kenya.

Appeal for knitters to help provide school uniforms for children in Kenya

Local Somerset charity Mend the Gap is appealing for local knitters to make jumpers for school children in Kenya. As the jumpers will be washed in river water, 4 ply acrylic wool will be needed as pure wool will shrink. Wool can be provided for those who would like to knit but are unable to get the wool. There are well established regular knitting groups in the villages of Churchill, Langford, Sandford and Kewstoke that meet regularly to knit for the charity. Exeter physio joins charity mission

An NHS physiotherapist from Exeter has returned from a charity mission to transform the lives of patients and improve services in rural Kenya.

Amy Souster spent 10 days on the Kenya Orthopaedic Project (KOP), joining a team of healthcare professionals from the UK tasked with educating and operating on as many local people in need as possible.

The team visited Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital, which serves a population of over 100,000 in Northern Kenya.

Record 86% Turn Out for Kenyan Elections

It has been reported that Uhuru Kenyatta has won the Kenyan elections with just over 50.07% of the vote and will be the 4th President of Kenya by a slim margin.

Earlier today Mr Kenyatta called for peaceful election process in a Kenya Red Cross initiative and despite earlier violence it appears to have worked with less than expected violence and very high turn out. The IEBC Chairman has stated 'There can be victories without victims'
