Consent has beengiven for the erection of two sculptured waves and interpretive pillars at Fisherman’s Gap, Seaton, that will form one of a series of local meeting and information points to promote and inform the public about Seaton Jurassic.
The other information points will be at Axmouth Harbour, on the Wetlands and at Seaton Hole. Their purpose is to extend the reach of the centre into the town and along the Jurassic Coast and are key to reaping the benefits of Seaton Jurassic by increasing footfall in the town, on the coast and in the Axe Estuary.
An information day held yesterday (26 March) for locals wanting to get involved with Seaton Jurassic attracted more than 100 people eager to find out more. The same day the project team received the welcome news that a further £200,000 has been secured for the centre from Coastal Communities Fund.

Young singers and musicians from across the region will raise rafters at Exeter Cathedral next week in a special concert of music and song inspired by Beer Quarry Caves.
At its heart is B Sharp Vocal Collective, a choir of more than 160 children and young people from Dorset and East Devon who have been working on original material with professional musicians lead by composer John K Miles.

Following last month’s ‘turf cutting’ work is moving at a pace on the site of the new visitor centre, Seaton Jurassic. The old Tourist Information Centre has been demolished so that construction on the new centre can begin and the new car park entrance, at the Marsh Lane end of The Underfleet, is on schedule for completion by the end of the month. In an effort to minimise disruption during the summer season, project managers for Seaton Jurassic, the new visitor centre, have re-jigged the programme slightly to allow the road reconfiguration to take place alongside the site set-up.
