Devon County Council and John Lewis, Exeter, have teamed up in celebration of fostering and children in care.

The connection follows the recent launch of the much-heralded John Lewis 'Christmas' TV advert, viewed by millions and seen by many to mark the start of the Christmas count-down.

Often poignant, the John Lewis advert this year focuses on children in care and follows the preparations by a foster carer ahead of the young person's arrival.

John Lewis Exeter donates £1,251 to CHSW

As part of John Lewis’ Community Matters charity campaign, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) was delighted to receive a cheque from the Exeter store for £1251.

CHSW was one of three charities chosen to be supported by a three month campaign within the store, which encouraged shoppers to select a charity to support via tokens given at the checkouts.

Fashion show raises £1,250 for charity

Local charity Rainbow Living is delighted to have raised £1,250 following a second successful fashion show, run in conjunction with John Lewis.

Over 100 guests from across the community supported the fashion extravaganza, which took place at John Lewis’s Exeter store.

Volunteer models took to the catwalk on behalf of the charity, showcasing clothes from the new Men’s and Women’s Summer collections, and John Lewis experts were on hand with fashion and beauty tips and advice.

Samaritans praise John Lewis

The chair of the local branch of Samaritans says she is delighted with the contribution to the charity made by the Exeter John Lewis store.

“We’re enormously grateful to John Lewis for a really generous donation of £1,020” explains Bridget Neligan, chair of Exeter Mid & East Devon Samaritans.

“Samaritans relies entirely on voluntary donations - we receive no grants and no official funding - so we’re extremely grateful for each contribution. I would also like to thank the shoppers who chose our charity when they visited the store” she says.

Cracking Easter family events at John Lewis

This Easter, John Lewis Exeter will host a long weekend of exciting events for all the family.

From 3–6 April there will be a range of activities to keep the little ones entertained, including an epic Easter egg hunt across the different departments and Easter card making workshops as part of our Bringing Skills to Life community programme.
