Legendary London-based rock band Killing Joke will visit Exeter’s HMV on Tuesday 27 October to celebrate the release of their latest album, ‘Pylon’.

The band will be visiting at 5pm to meet fans and sign copies of the new LP – ‘Plyon’, which isn't designed to accompany a quiet night at home in front of the fire. Pylon is very much music as ritual - raw, uncompromising and precisely-targeted lyrically, for all rock and metal fans.

Mercury Music Prize nominee and Devon born Folk singer/songwriter Seth Lakeman will be visiting HMV in Exeter on Friday 7 February to celebrate the release of his new album Word of Mouth.

Recorded in a Cornish Church, Word of Mouth showcases Seth's skill as a storyteller while the dramatic and melodic sound cements his status as a figurehead of contemporary British Folk.

Making a name for himself in the UK Folk scene and beyond since his teens, Seth has been honoured with both the best album and singer of the year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

HMV on the verge of £50m rescue deal with Hilco

Sky News has revealed that HMV, Britain's last remaining independent music retail chain, is on the verge of being rescued in a £50m deal that will preserve 2,500 jobs.

Hilco UK, which has been operating in Europe for over 10 years, was founded out of a partnership between UK Management and the Hilco Group in the US, the global leader in distressed retail investment and advisory services. Hilco also already runs HMV in Canada and has worked with music labels to secure new releases for HMV’s UK stores.

HMV will honour gift cards from today

The Joint Administrators to HMV today confirmed that gift cards can be redeemed in stores from Tuesday 22 January.

Additionally, the Joint Administrators said that proceeds raised by HMV through the sale of charity releases (including the Hillsborough Justice Collective single) will be paid in full as soon as possible.

HMV hopeful of buyer to prevent job losses

Despite news that the administrators have been called in, HMV has announced that its stores are open and trading as normal. However, it is not currently accepting gift vouchers or issuing any more until further notice.

In a statement issued on Monday night it said: "The board regrets to announce that it has been unable to reach a position where it feels able to continue to trade outside of insolvency protection and in the circumstances, therefore intends to file notice to appoint administrators to the company and certain of its subsidiaries with immediate effect."
