The New Year brings with it new and exciting projects and plans for Devon Air Ambulance (DAA). The past year has been challenging in many ways for everyone and the team at DAA certainly met and overcame some significant challenges.

But there have also been many developments, highlights and celebrations which wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering determination of those who kindly give to Devon Air Ambulance in so many ways.

Come along to Darts Farm to help celebrate Devon's Air Ambulances' 25th anniversary of saving lives. There is lots for all of the family including an emergency services demonstration at 12.30pm featuring DAA aircrew, the fire, police and ambulance services.

Do your children love the Goose books? Goose's creator and author Laura Wall will be holding story telling sessions at 10am and 11am. Three arrested after firearm incident

Three people are in police custody following a firearm incident in Devon.

The Exeter-based police helicopter was involved in a search following the incident.

Police were called at around 3.30pm yesterday (Monday 29th August) with reports of gunfire being heard and a vehicle being rammed in the Fore Street area of Torquay.

Police Armed Response Units were called to the scene and one man was discovered to have sustained a number of pellet wounds believed to have been from an air rifle, and was subsequently take to hospital.

Onelife Training pledges support for Devon's Air Ambulance staff

Devon Air Ambulance Trust is the Charity which raises the funds to keep Devon’s two Air Ambulances flying. Although a Charity Heléna Holt, Chief Executive explained “To be a successful charity, no matter what size, it is essential that staff and volunteers receive the right training in order to run the Charity as effectively as possible.”

Devon Air Ambulance celebrates its high flying lottery

It’s been quite a week for Devon Air Ambulance Trust’s in house Lottery, who is celebrating 30,000 playing members.

The charity funded service started its own in house lottery in September 2001 and since then it has gone from strength to strength.

The amount raised by DAAT Lottery members effectively this year will pay for 330 life-saving missions. A huge achievement.

In 2013 sales of the Lottery equated to £1.35 million with over £900,000 donated back to the Trust (272 missions) after the deduction of the prize fund and minimal administration charges. Caroline...

A very fishy donation to Devon Air Ambulance Trust

Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) regularly receives slightly unusual donations from the community but this week sees one of the most unusual. Heléna Holt explained “We received a call from Mat Mander, Deputy Chief Officer of the Devon & Severn Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (D&SIFCA) recently, who advised they were making a donation of £792.38 to the Charity.” She added “This fantastic donation came from the sale of the mullet seized from an illegal net, found at the mouth of the River Erme in South Devon. Devon's Air Ambulances celebrate their independence

Devon’s Air Ambulances recently celebrated becoming truly independent and self-sufficient.

The Charity, through its operating arm Devon Air Ambulance Trading Company Limited, has been awarded their own Air Operators Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), something the Charity have previously relied on other agencies to hold and operate on their behalf.

Police helicopter over Exeter

Police helicopters were dispatched over Exeter late last night to aid in the search for a missing man. Emergency services called for assistance from the National Police Air Service (NPAS) after concerns were raised for the man’s welfare. A police helicopter team located the man in the Ludwell Valley area shortly after midnight and officers on the ground were directed to him.

The wreckage of a helicopter which crashed into a busy pub in Glasgow has been removed by rescue services.

At least nine people are thought to have been killed when the helicopter crashed onto The Clutha around 10:30 on Friday night.

Police have said that they cannot rule out the possibility of more bodies being found as they continue to clear the scene. A ninth body was recovered from the wreckage this morning.

A ninth body has been recovered from the wreckage of the Clutha pub in Glasgow which was crashed into by a helicopter on Friday night. Police have said that they cannot rule out the possibility of more bodies being found as they continue to clear the scene.
