Cranbrook’s first community building opening soon

The first community building in Cranbrook is now complete and the asset has been handed over to East Devon District Council which intends to open the doors to the Younghayes Centre in time for the community’s Hallowe’en pumpkin party.

Following a delay with the handover of the building due to legal technicalities, Councillor Paul Diviani, Leader of East Devon District Council, was today delighted to hear that the building now belongs to East Devon.

He said: “Thank the Lord! Every day a false hope dawned but at long last we have the keys to the doors of the Younghayes Centre...

Their Pumpkin Day is legendary and with good reason; it’s full of busy fun, tasty food and a good dose of fresh air…and it’s free entry!

Children’s activities include apple pressing, worm digging, pumpkin carving, face painting and vegetable games. When that all gets too much, they can settle down to paint spooky pictures in the creativity area or take a tractor ride around the farm to see where the team grow the veg for the farm’s vegboxes....

All the animals will be waiting for their last cuddle of the season and we have a whole week of hands on Jollyween fun to brighten up your autumn. You can even cuddle a world famous Pennywell miniature pig.

There are all your favourite activities like bottle feeding, ferret racing and miniature pig racing as well as some very special themed events throughout the day.
