Adventure events at Powderham Castle.

We have thrills and chills planned this half-term! Children can follow the Pumpkin Trail to win their own pumpkin to carve in the Potting Shed.

The braver ones will love a close encounter with Dartmoor Reptiles and their family of snakes and lizards.

Family events at A la Ronde this half term

From pumpkins to apples and bats to spooky stories, there will be plenty going on this October Half term at A la Ronde’s popular Apple Day and Hallowe’en Spooktacular events.

Let your kids go ‘batty’ with a free quiz trail from Saturday 25 October until Sunday 2 November. Find the clues around the perimeter walk to solve the anagram and spot the bats hidden along the route. There will also be a spooky house trail all week (normal admission to the house applies).

Stellar line up of authors for Exeter's festival of writing for children

Michael Morpurgo, Andy Stanton, Francesca Simon and Darren Shan will be amongst the line up of top children’s authors taking part in Exeter’s festival of writing for and by young people during the October half term.

This Autumn half term from Tuesday 28th October to Saturday 1st November, The Bike Shed Theatre, in Exeter’s Fore Street, will be transformed into a kitchen, dining room, and story-world for the arrival of Tortoise & Hare- as they make a meal of storytelling. Great movies for kids this half term

Escape the miserable weather into a wonderful alternative universe of animation this half-term.

Animated Exeter will be screening over 100 animated films from the UK’s young animators, UK graduates and stunning selection of independent talent from around the world in addition to screenings of big movies: from Studio Ghibli’s ‘From Up Poppy Hill’ to ‘Frozen’ and ‘The Wolf Children’.

The international competition ‘Wide World’ to find the best animation for children had an enormous response the results of which audiences of all ages will enjoy on Monday and Wednesday.
