Free workshops and check-ins on offer to boost Devon’s wellbeing

Independent charity Devon Communities Together (DCT) has launched a new wellbeing programme, Wellbeing Works, to support people and businesses in Devon to prioritise their wellbeing and resilience as we continue to recover from the pandemic.

People can access free 1-2-1 wellbeing check-ins with trained volunteers or join one of a series of online workshops designed to share tools and techniques for better wellbeing. There are a whole range of two-hour workshops on offer, from the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’, to ‘Wellbeing at Work’ and even ‘Doodling for Wellbeing’, plus many more....

Free training and 1-2-1 support for community businesses and social enterprises to help Devon ‘Do Business Differently’

Independent charity Devon Communities Together (DCT) is providing a series of free training workshops as part of a whole package of support for community businesses in Devon.

Alongside the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE), New Prosperity Devon and Stir to Action, DCT is engaging with local communities to support the development of social enterprises, community businesses, community groups, sole traders and anyone with a great idea for their community.

Exeter employers to receive free help to secure staff, thanks to Exeter Works and Youth Hub Devon

Businesses in Exeter are to receive free help and support to recruit and retain staff, in a unique event provided by Exeter Works and Youth Hub Devon.

The event forms part of National Careers Week, a series of activities primarily aimed at supporting jobseekers, and which runs from 7-12 March.

Ensuring that employers are also involved was seen as crucial in putting the programme of events together, according to Youth Hub coordinator, Rhian Hawthorne.

Big Wave Media staff join nation of lifesavers to boost cardiac arrest survival

The chance of surviving a cardiac arrest has been boosted, thanks to the staff at Bigwave Media in Exeter and the British Heart Foundation (BHF). The creative agency decided to join the BHF’s force of Nation of Lifesavers by training ten of their staff in Exeter, to learn life-saving CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) skills. The staff were trained by Hilary Sanders, who is the coordinator and a trainer for a BHF Heartstart Community Group based in Kentisbeare near Cullompton.
