The Service have issued special ID cards with their phone number, email address and a unique Home Instead logo and account number to all Home Instead CAREGivers, who provide support to elderly in their own homes in. Devon and Somerset firefighters have appealed to councillors over the decision to allow fire chief Lee Howell to work part time and begin as a fire advisor in Wales.
Representatives from the Fire Brigades Union have written asking for an explanation and expressing their ‘grave concern’ over the decision, which will see Howell working for the Welsh Government two days a week.

Four fire appliances were mobilised to Kay Close, Exmouth, at 8pm last night following a report of a property fire. On arrival fire crews discovered one domestic bungalow well alight with the fire starting to spread to adjoining properties.
After establishing that everybody had been accounted for, crews used eight breathing apparatus sets, three hose reel jets, two main jets, numerous ladders and roof ladders, a thermal imaging camera and two positive pressure ventilation fans to extinguish the fire.

Lee Howell, Chief Fire Officer of Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has been appointed as the Welsh Government’s Fire and Rescue Adviser with Her Majesty’s Inspector status. He will be seconded from his Fire and Rescue Service on a part-time basis. He will take up his post on 12 August 2013.

Earlier today (25 July): Police are looking to identify a male cyclist (pictured) who is a witness to the house fire at Magnolia Court in Tiverton on Tuesday 23 July.
He cycled past the fire before emergency services arrived, possibly more than once. He may hold vital information.
