East Devon District Council (EDDC) has granted planning permission for the first expansion of Cranbrook. It is the largest planning permission issued by EDDC since permission for the new town was issued, more than 13 years ago.

The expansion allows up to 1435 homes and 10 permanent pitches for gypsies and travellers to be created. There will be a new three form entry primary school, a special educational needs school, a neighbourhood centre, land for a place of worship, a vicarage and a cemetery. Chartered accountants and business advisers PKF Francis Clark have introduced another member to their VAT team based in the firm's Truro office, in preparation for the legislative changes and Brexit complications that 2019 will bring.

South West restaurant group Hubbox is getting ready to expand its operations.

The group, which already operates restaurants in six locations, is adding a second outlet in Plymouth’s Royal William Yard.

Group founder Richard Boon said; ‘We’ve got a beautiful building with a great interior to work with. With a population of 265,000, a great tourist boom in the summer and a huge university, Plymouth is more than man enough to have two Hubbox sites at opposing ends of the city.’
