Exeter based ethical retailer, Sancho’s, have launched their Fashion Revolution Week in 2019 Programme in an effort to raise awareness about the cost of fast fashion. Consisting of a series of events, it will inform and educate people on the harmful environmental effects of fast fashion, which has become one of the world’s largest polluters. RD&E helipad will be upgraded to enable more patient landings
Work to upgrade the current helipad at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust will begin this month, thanks to a £1 million donation from the County Air Ambulance HELP Appeal.
The donation has covered the cost of the redevelopment and will allow the introduction of night landings at the hospital. At the moment, the helipad does not have the capacity to support night landings, meaning that its day light operation is limited, especially throughout the winter months. Exeter’s night shelter supported 194 rough sleepers over the winter and will open up again in November thanks to the City Council securing extra funding.
The shelter – dubbed The Junction – is set to wind down at the end of the month as the weather improves and temperatures go up.
Since opening up its doors in November, the facility has provided a total of 3,239 bed nights and given shelter, allowing those sleeping rough to come inside on some of the coldest nights over the winter, when the City Council has enacted its Severe Weather Protocol (SWEP).
Leading Devon-based chartered accountancy firm Simpkins Edwards has promoted two of its directors, Jonathan Hayes in Exeter and Jo Tope in Holsworthy, to the position of partner within the firm.

The company will be investing £39,000 to upgrade old metal pipes to new plastic ones in the Exwick Road area of the city.
