Saturday sees the first Exfest Exeter Canalside Folk Festival, featuring an exciting line-up of some of the best musicians on the circuit, and a day of traditional music and dance, all in the beautiful surrounds of the Double Locks pub on the banks of the Exeter Canal.

Repossessions by social landlords up by 18% says CAB

Local charity, Exeter Citizens Advice Bureau, is reporting that there has been an 18% increase in the number of repossession cases listed at Exeter County Court by social landlords.

Where a CAB adviser has assisted clients facing repossession, the clients have avoided repossession in over 80% of cases.

Exeter City Council has provided financial support for this essential service.

Haberdashery sales buzzing at John Lewis

Since the BBC's new sewing programme, The Great British Sewing Bee aired, John Lewis Exeter has seen a surge in purchases of haberdashery products, with sales looking set to rise further over the coming weeks.

Following the programme's launch the haberdashery department in Exeter saw a 36% increase on the week before including a 55% increase in sales of sewing machines.

Afternoon lecture: A Frozen Moment in Antarctica

West Country-based winner in the Veolia Environment Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, researcher and ecologist, Mark Tatchell, will share his passion and fascination with the pristine Antarctic environment in a lecture building on his extensive experience of working as a wildlife guide on expeditions.

Through his photographs, he will explore the wildlife of this beautiful icy continent.

Complementing the Veolia Environment Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition which is at RAMM until 2 June 2013.

Rathbones Spring Concert Series: Emma Johnson Clarinet & John Lenehan Piano

Emma Johnson has an international career as a soloist. She has performed across Europe, the USA and the Far East, as well as in Africa and Australia in venues such as the Kennedy Center, the Concertgebouw, the Louvre and the Barbican.

In Britain she has achieved particular popularity with her two discs on the Universal label, Voyage and The Mozart Album, which spent many weeks at the top of the Classical Charts. She is joined by her regular duo partner, the distinguished pianist John Lenehan.
