Event to help communities prepare for emergencies

A free event to help communities across Devon prepare for incidents such as severe weather and flooding is being held near Exeter next week.

The interactive day, entitled 'Becoming Resilient', will include guest speakers, workshops, case studies and an expert question and answer panel.

Greens now third party in Exeter

Despite failing to win a seat, the Green Party is now the third party in Exeter, achieving a higher proportion of the vote than either the Lib Dems or UKIP. The Party’s lead candidate in St David’s and former parliamentary candidate, Diana Moore, came fifth in the ward.

With over 1,200 runners already signed up, this year’s Children’s Hospice South West Rainbow Run at Exeter Racecourse on June 11 is going to be the biggest ever! A unique event for folk music lover and songwriters alike is taking place in Exeter.

A folk star and famous songwriter is taking a night off from the busy touring schedule to drop in on a favourite local venue, unpack the songwriting process a little and share thoughts with an intimate audience.

Steve Knightley, one of the Westcountry’s leading songwriters, will give an illustrated talk about his approach to songwriting using songs reflecting a sense of place in Devon at the Cygnet Theatre, Exeter on Monday 9th May.

Rob Baxter is challenging his Exeter Chiefs side to "want more" as they gear up for the club's first-ever appearance in the Aviva Premiership play-offs. The Chiefs will wrap up the final round of the scheduled domestic season at Harlequins tomorrow (3:30pm) knowing a victory in the capital will guarantee them home advantage in a fortnight's time in the last four.
