The start of the 24th annual Nello bike ride for FORCE Cancer Charity

The 24th annual Nello cycle ride in aid of FORCE Cancer Charity is on course to raise £60,000.

Nearly 900 cyclists took to the roads around Devon to support the Exeter-based charity, which offers free support and advice to local people affected by cancer.

The riders tackled 60 or 100 mile routes in glorious sunshine, starting and finishing at Topsham Rugby Club.

They came from all over the world to take part.

An innovative new service developed in Exeter which allows people to take blood tests at home has won a prestigious national award to celebrate its positive benefit for patients.

Professor Tim McDonald and his team have been awarded the Impact Award for their outstanding work on the development of a national, home-based blood collection and laboratory testing service for NHS patients. A £3 million investment in skills across Devon and Cornwall has been announced today with the launch of the latest wave of Train4Tomorrow Skills Bootcamps .

More than 50 bootcamps are now recruiting learners with over 1,000 places available, and demand continues to grow for the training provided through this successful scheme. The Devon Windrush Flag was raised at County Hall today to mark 75 years since the Empire Windrush arrived in Tilbury Dock and its 492 passengers disembarked to begin a new life in Britain.

Members of the Celebrating Windrush in Devon group joined the Leader of Devon County Council (DCC) John Hart, DCC Chair Percy Prowse, Chief Executive Donna Manson, the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Devon Philip Bostock OBE, and the Lord Mayor of Exeter Kevin Mitchell, for the flag-raising.
