Exeter Northcott Theatre has announced the appointment of Martin Berry as its new Creative Director and Joint Chief Executive, from 20 November 2023.

Martin’s appointment to Exeter Northcott coincides with the theatre adopting a new senior leadership structure, in which three people will take the shared role of Joint Chief Executive.

Northcott pilots new Community Associates Programme with Café Theatre Company

Exeter Northcott Theatre launched today a new Community Associates Programme to learn how it can support artists or companies who work with:

  • Communities with limited access to arts opportunities.
  • Communities whose stories and voices have low visibility.

The Northcott will first partner with Café Theatre, a Devon-based company that creates work involving participants over the age of 60 at its Barnfield Theatre.

Flavours of Us food and culture event in Exeter

The Encompass group, composed of Devon’s Caribbean, Hindu and Polish communities and supported by Exeter Northcott Theatre, has announced Flavours of Us , a family friendly food and culture event taking place at the city centre Barnfield Theatre on 27 May.

On the day, visitors can join one of two guided experiences offering a rich and vibrant exploration of Caribbean, Hindu, and Polish food cultures, including:

Exeter Northcott Theatre donates Christmas panto tickets to local charity

Exeter Community Initiatives (ECI), a charity based in Exeter, has been given 40 free Christmas pantomime tickets by Exeter Northcott Theatre to distribute to local families.

ECI’s Devon Family Resource project, which supports families with children aged 0-18 facing challenges and hardships, will distribute the Robin Hood panto tickets amongst the families it works with.

Exeter Northcott hits stretch target of gifting 750 Christmas theatre tickets

Exeter Northcott has reached its stretch goal of gifting 750 tickets for family Christmas show Robin Hood to children, young people and carers in Devon through its Pay It Forward audience donation campaign.

The theatre had already achieved its initial end-of-year aim of giving away 500 tickets through the scheme to people who might not otherwise be able to experience the magic of theatre at Christmas in October.

In total, 1234 people donated £12,559 towards the Northcott’s Pay It Forward campaign this year.

Exeter Northcott hits target of gifting 500 Christmas theatre tickets and extends goal to 750

Exeter Northcott Theatre has launched a new stretch goal of gifting 750 tickets for its family Christmas show Robin Hood to children and young people in Devon through its Pay It Forward donation campaign by the end of this year, having reached its initial aim of giving away 500 tickets.

The Northcott’s Pay It Forward campaign, now in its third year, asks audience members to donate towards the cost of a theatre ticket for children and young people who would not otherwise be able to go.

Between January and October this year, 766 people donated £7,392 towards the campaign...
