The award-winning author of War Horse , Private Peaceful and Adolphus Tips is a passionate supporter of museums and became RAMM’s chief patron in 2011. He has visited RAMM many times as a parent, grandparent and writer. A £660,000 improvement scheme to transform Exeter's Central Station forecourt has been given the green light.
Work is expected to start in August after Devon County Council's Cabinet approved a lease agreement at a meeting yesterday.
The scheme, which was approved by Cabinet last September and aims to encourage walking and cycling to Exeter Central Station, will be funded by Devon County Council (£330,000), Exeter City Council (£185,000) and Network Rail (£145,000).

Over 300 households in Exeter switched energy suppliers as part of the recent Exeter Together initiative, making a collective saving of £35,325 across the city.
A total of 327 households took advantage of the scheme, making 621 switches (some taking advantage of better tariffs for both gas and electricity), with an average saving of £108.
The Exeter Together website and call centre registered 2,188 households considering the Exeter Together scheme. Not everyone, however, was able to make a big enough saving, with many 'smart savers' already enjoying good energy deals....
People can have their say on Exeter City Council's Sex Establishment Policy.
The current interim policy limits the number of Sex Entertainment Venues (SEVs) to one in the City Centre and zero elsewhere. It also restricts the number of sex shops to two.
