Having revved up for the new Aviva Premiership season with victories already over Cardiff Blues and Ulster, Exeter Chiefs will be looking to fine tune their game plan in tonight’s final pre-season friendly against Worcester Warriors at Sixways (7.30).

Head coach Rob Baxter admits he has been largely encouraged with his squad’s pre-season work so far, but the acid test will ultimately come when the Devon club kick-off their league campaign at newly-promoted London Welsh on Sunday week.

To ensure the Chiefs head into that tussle in fine fettle, Baxter is aiming to use his...

Meet warrior Chief Black (eye) Jack!

You're looking forward to your opportunity in front of the media ahead of the new season and your picture being taken for the website and programme.

Your hair's been trimmed and the summer tan is looking good and then... WHACK.

That's what happened to academy youngster Jack Stanley shortly before the Exeter Chiefs annual media day.

A training session clash left him with the shiner of all shiners.

But in true rugby player fashion, Jack, an England under-18 international, put on his best grin and proudly displayed his battle scars.

Jack, a former...

Former Exeter Chiefs hooker, Chris Whitehead has confirmed a series of events celebrating his career in professional rugby having been forced into retirement earlier this year due to a neck injury.

Having had his stint in the Chiefs’ front row cut brutally short, Chris looks to celebrate his achievements with the club over the next 12 months before hanging up his boots for good.

Chris made over 50 appearances in a Chiefs’ shirt during his time at Sandy Park and secured himself a place in the club’s hall of fame courtesy of some incredible performances, including his...

A touch of the Poirots about Chiefs!

There was a touch of the Poirots about some of the Exeter Chiefs squad when they lined up on media day ahead of the new season.

Waxed moustaches were de riguer among some of the younger players, amongst them, England up and comer Jack Nowell.

He told The Exeter Daily he was looking back through some previous team pictures and liked the idea of doing something different.

He opted for the moustache and was joined by several other members of the team.

Jack says he is now planning to keep the moustache until Movember!

And it's likely his 'mon amis' will...

First pitch-level view of new Chiefs grandstand

This is the view Exeter Chiefs players will get of their new grandstand when they run out for their first game at Sandy Park against Leicester Chiefs on September 13.

Work has been continuing apace throughout the summer forcing the team to play all of their friendlies away from home.

But as our pictures show, everything is now falling into place.

The main part of the works have seen the West Grandstand undergo a £7.5 million transformation, doubling its capacity for usage on both match-days and events throughout the course of the week.

Meanwhile, £1m has...

Chiefs continue winning ways

Late tries from Matt Jess and Henry Slade ensured Exeter Chiefs maintained their unbeaten record this pre-season as they saw off a strong Ulster side at the Kingspan Stadium.

Trailing 21-8 entering into the final 10 minutes of an entertaining encounter in Belfast, the Chiefs dug deep into their reserves to produce two excellent scores to seal victory.

Ulster played their part on the night with winger Rory Scholes crossing twice, alongside another try from debutant Louis Ludik, but it was not enough to see off Rob Baxter’s valiant visitors, who also claimed a first half...

Caldwell set for Ulster

Summer signing Ryan Caldwell says he wants to build on an encouraging start to life at Exeter Chiefs when he features in this evening's pre-season friendly at Ulster Rugby.

The 29-year-old forward was one of eight new recruits brought to Sandy Park by head coach Rob Baxter during the close season - and he got his first taste of action at his new club when he featured in the second half of the 24-17 win at Cardiff Blues.

Caldwell returns to his Belfast birthplace aiming to sink his former club as he starts in a powerful Exeter pack for their latest pre-season work-out....

Injury blow for Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs scrum-half Dave Lewis will sit out the club’s remaining two pre-season friendlies after injuring an elbow in last week’s win over Cardiff Blues.

The 25-year-old sustained the blow during the second half of Exeter’s 24-17 victory at the BT Sports Cardiff Arms Park – and has since undergone a scan to determine the full extent of the damage caused.

Already head coach Rob Baxter has confirmed Lewis will sit out tomorrow’s trip to Ulster and the forthcoming friendly against Championship side Worcester Warriors on August 29 – and is hopeful the former Gloucester No....
