Exeter Bach Society Music in May

A concert celebration of summer by the Exeter Bach Society choir including madrigals, folk songs, and Morten Lauridsen’s O Magnum Mysterium.

‘Music in May’ will be conducted by David Davies, our musical director and Assistant Director of Music at Exeter Cathedral, and the concert will take place in St Mark’s Church, Pinhoe Road, Exeter.

Exeter Bach Society Choir and Orchestra present St Matthew Passion

One of Bach's two surviving passions, the St Matthew features two four-part choirs, several soloists and full orchestra.

Widely regarded as Bach's greatest work, the music of the Passion encompasses emotional extremes, the shouting of the mob for Jesus' crucifixion closely followed by Peter's quiet despair at his own betrayal. The work in its entirety runs to over three hours: a shortened version, in the original German, will be performed here.
