The huge increase in demand for pets during the pandemic hasn’t helped one lonely dog in Devon.

Connor, a three-year-old greyhound currently in the care of dog rescue charity Forever Hounds Trust, has been waiting for the right forever home for more than a year. While there have been lots of home offers for other dogs at the charity’s Centre for Homing and Welfare, which is based near Cullompton in Devon and opened in December last year, Connor has not been one of the lucky ones chosen for a home of his own.

Dog lover, Debs Jones is used to getting in her daily steps as part of her job involves meeting GPs and NHS teams every day.

The Devon & Somerset health professional facilitator is part of a Cancer Research UK team, whose role is to support cancer prevention, doctors referrals, and promote healthy lifestyles in the county and the south west.

She is supporting Cancer Research UK’s ‘Walk All Over Cancer’ campaign which asks people to walk 10,000 steps a day, every day in March, and raise money for the charity’s life-saving research.

Haldon Forest Park turns into winter wonderland for charity dog walk

If you go down to the woods next Friday, be sure to take part in pet charity Blue Cross’s Bark in the Dark event to help raise money for sick and homeless pets.

The charity’s event is being held in Haldon Forest near Exeter, and is open to all the family and their four-legged friends.

Police appeal after spate of dog thefts

Police are appealing to the public for information following several reports of theft of dogs from North and South Molton.

The first incident happened at the kennels on The Square in North Molton on Friday 15 December between 9am and 5pm.

Three dogs were all pedigree cocker spaniels. The first dog was a small female seven-year-old black Devonshire Faith spaniel, the second dog was an 18-month-old black Hillside Harriet female with a white bib, and the third dog was a gold Badgeberry Troufseau Hope spaniel. A family are desperately trying to find a much-loved pet who has been missing in the Whipton area since last week.

'Pedro', a small chocolate brown chihuahua with tan markings, ran off from Sweetbriar Lane (EX1) at around 3pm on Wednesday 18 October.

There has been one possible sighting on Honiton Road.

The three-year old dog is microchipped and neutered, and has not been separated from his brother since birth...
