Devon County Council is expecting to complete repairs to a section of the sea wall at Lympstone early this week.
The authority responded after high tides and rough seas over the festive break took their toll on the length of the old masonry wall on Sowden Lane, creating a hole the size of a small car.
The damage to the wall, which supports the highway, was reported to the County Council on 1st January and was assessed the same day by the on-call bridge inspector.
The area was fenced off and the site made safe and repairs got underway earlier this week.
