National Awards for Exeter Motor Retail Colleagues

Two colleagues have been honoured with prestigious Vertu Motors plc 2023 CEO Management Awards.

Anthony Pearson, who works at Vertu Jaguar Land Rover Exeter and Ben Williamson, from Vertu Volvo Exeter, have been named Sales Manager of the Year and Service Manager of the Year.

The awards acknowledge colleagues who have performed exceptionally well and delivered the highest levels of leadership throughout the year.

Nominations are made by Operational Directors to the plc Board, which selects the winner of each category.

Devon community groups receive funding boost

Three community groups across Devon* have received over £2,700 from The Co-operative Bank in the latest round of grants from its Customer Donation Fund.

Among the recipients was Exeter-based Sweetpea Smallholdings, a community interest company (CIC) that aims to reduce social isolation by bringing people from a variety of backgrounds together to grow fruit, vegetables and herbs.

M Pinches and Sons Ltd, founder members of the network, won the Pall-Ex Regional Operational Award for the Southwest , and Pall-Ex Southwest, received the award from Fortec at an exclusive ceremony, sponsored by Tile Mountain, held to celebrate independent hauliers from across the UK and Europe.

More than 440 training places are available through a newly launched digital skills programme.

The Core Sector Digital Training programme has been designed to support the key growth sectors of creative industries and clean growth as well as the region’s bedrock sectors of health and adult social care, hospitality and tourism.

Unique pilot programme reducing waiting list for spinal surgery in Devon

The NHS in Devon has reduced the number of patients waiting a long time for spinal surgery by nearly 80% between May 2023 and January 2024 by revolutionising the approach to caring for patients.

The number of patients in Devon waiting 78 weeks or more for spinal surgical treatment was 31 at the end of January 2024. This is 79% lower than May 2023 when that number stood at 131.

New bridge over A379 opens

The impressive new pedestrian and cycle bridge over the A379 is open for use.
