A new Clapper Bridge has been installed over the Western Wella Brook, along with path and drainage improvements on the associated public right of way, which is part of both the Abbots Way and the Two Moors Way.

A “potentially life-saving” night shelter allowing rough sleepers to come in out of the cold, is proving popular in Exeter as night-time temperatures drop below zero.

Exeter City Council’s Night Shelter – renamed The Junction and situated in the former Spice Island restaurant in Magdalen Street – has been packed out over the last couple of nights as rough sleepers escape the bitter nights on the street.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with incidents at Woodbury Salterton on New Year’s Day.

Police were called at 8.05am following a report of a man in a mask acting suspiciously in the village.

Police are seeking witnesses to an unprovoked assault on a man in Exeter which left him with a serious hand injury.

The victim, in his 50s, was walking his dog around 9.30pm on Saturday 17 November when the incident took place.

When he reached Hamlin Lane he was subjected to verbal abuse from five teenage boys and one girl who were hanging around in the street.

During the altercation he was pushed to the ground by one of the boys. He sustained a broken bone in his hand which required hospital treatment.

Representatives from Devon’s Health and Wellbeing Board, which oversees the strategic delivery of health and social care services in the county, have signed an ambitious Charter to end loneliness.

It’s a pledge by the Board that its partner authorities, including the NHS, Public Health, and Social Care, will do all they can to tackle the issue.
