Support for bus lane improvements

Devon County Council’s Cabinet agreed yesterday (Wednesday 11 October) to advertise traffic regulation orders for a £525,000 bus lane scheme in Roundswell and a £400,000 scheme in Exeter City Centre which form part of Devon’s Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP).

Both schemes, which will use a share of the £14.1 million BSIP funding awarded to Devon by the Department for Transport last year, aim to achieve better bus journey times.

Exeter netball team shoot and score in funding bid

Team Isca Netball Club have secured a £1,000 donation from local housebuilders.

Persimmon Homes South West presented a cheque to the team at their regular venue, Exeter University Sports Park, earlier this month after the club applied to the developer’s Community Champions scheme.

Team Isca was established in 2016 and welcomes new members of all abilities and ages above 15. They play in the Exeter and District Netball League and, this season, will be playing in Division Five.

South Western Railway improves timetable with more direct services to and from London

SOUTH Western Railway’s (SWR) December 2023 timetable will increase the number of direct, weekday services to and from London Waterloo on the West of England Line.

Direct services on the line that connects London Waterloo with Salisbury, Yeovil Junction and Exeter St Davids were reduced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Those reductions almost halved the number of direct, off-peak services between London Waterloo, Andover and Salisbury, while customers travelling off-peak from London Waterloo to Overton, Whitchurch and Grateley must currently change at Basingstoke and wait...

A five-year-old boy from Exminster has come to the rescue after charity shop staff reported the theft of a giant toy giraffe from its shop window.

Little Theo heard how ‘Danny’ the giraffe was to be raffled off to raise funds at the Cancer Research UK shop in Exeter for Stand Up To Cancer, but thieves had stolen him one Saturday morning.

Young philanthropist Izzy Rutter, an 11-year-old from Exeter, recently accomplished an impressive 20-mile charity walk to raise money for InFocus Charity, based in Exeter.

InFocus Charity is dedicated to supporting young individuals with vision impairment and complex needs.

On 16th September 2023, Izzy embarked on her challenging journey, covering a 20-mile route from Exeter to Dawlish Warren and back, all in pursuit of her New Year resolution to raise £100 for a local charity.
