Warning issued over buying puppies after Honiton couple receive life-time dog owning ban

A couple from the Honiton area have recently been banned from selling puppies and handed a life-time ban on owning dogs, prompting council warnings on buying puppies.

East Devon District Council (EDDC) has recently had a flurry of enquiries regarding the buying and selling puppies as well as complaints of alleged unlicensed breeders during lockdown.

The authority has been contacted by residents from across the district, including from areas such as Exmouth, Exton, and Newton Poppleford and Whimple as well as further afield.

£40m funding for Okehampton to Exeter rail line

More than £40 million of funding has been announced in today’s Budget to reinstate passenger services on the Okehampton to Exeter rail line.

Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak confirmed Government backing for regular services on the line, which has received a warm welcome in the county.

Exeter primary school handed laptops boost

A primary school in Exeter is celebrating after receiving a new set of laptops to help children learn from home.

St Martin’s Church of England Primary School, Cranbrook, has been given £6,600 to buy 20 Chrome Books by housing association LiveWest, so that pupils without access to computers are not disadvantaged.

A staggering 2,000 people with dementia are estimated to have died from coronavirus in South West England since the pandemic hit the UK in full force in March 2020.1

They are among more than 34,000 with the condition to have died in England and Wales from Covid-19, making people with dementia the worst hit by coronavirus.

A business in Honiton has become the 1,000th customer to be installed with ultrafast full fibre broadband from Jurassic Fibre.
