Tickets have gone on sale for Budleigh Music Festival which will be held from 9 - 17 July after a break last year due to Government restrictions. A week-long programme of live classical music will be held in the town, this year accompanied by incredible sensory art installation, Colourscape.

Devon company breaks into Chinese market with sustainable coffee pods

A Devon-based, award-winning coffee pod producer is breaking into the Chinese market with its eco-friendly, compostable coffee capsules made from wood and bark.

Blue Goose’s coffee pods are now selling in China online through the Great British Food Store on the country’s largest social media platform, WeChat.

The Great British Food Store just set up by Business West, one of the UK’s largest Chambers of Commerce, is already selling 20 UK food and drink brands on WeChat which has a user base of 1.2 billion.

Local volunteers needed for summer food collection

Volunteers are being sought in Devon to help two leading charities support children and families this summer.

From 15-17 July, charities FareShare and the Trussell Trust will be collecting long-life food in Tesco’s large Devon stores as part of a special Food Collection to support children and families throughout the summer holidays.

Food donated by Tesco customers during the collection will go to support food banks in the Trussell Trust’s network and to local charities supplied by FareShare, including holiday clubs providing healthy meals and activities to youngsters...

Three quarters of adults in Devon have now had their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

More than 750,000 first doses had been given up to 23 May and almost half a million second doses.

The milestone has been reached less than six months since the first vaccine was administered in Devon on 8 December 2020 to 81-year-old Kathleen Viney.

Since then vaccines have been delivered in a huge variety of places, including a mosque, bus, sports centres and grounds, a garden centre, pub, pharmacies, a town hall, hospitals and events venues.

Work on the new Marsh Barton rail station, which began last month, is progressing at pace.

Preparatory works to the site, near to the Energy from Waste plant on the eastern edge of Marsh Barton, Exeter, are well underway.

Vegetation has been cleared, existing utilities protected, and a site compound and access road have been created ready for the next phase to begin in June.

An Exeter care home resident has celebrated her 102nd birthday after surviving Covid.

Muriel Dunford, who lives at The Old Rectory, contracted the virus in January of this year, but remained asymptomatic and after recovering, was able to enjoy her special day with staff and residents at the home.
