Marsh Barton Station opening date confirmed

The new Marsh Barton Railway Station will open to the public on Tuesday 4 July 2023.

The £16 million project has been delivered by Devon County Council in collaboration with Network Rail and Great Western Railway (GWR) and built by construction and civil engineering specialist firm GRAHAM.

The scheme has also involved the development of a new pedestrian and cycle bridge, which opened in April, improving active travel links between Alphington, Marsh Barton, and the Riverside Valley Park.

Exeter Airport has announced the appointment as Stephen Wiltshire as Managing Director.

Stephen, 47, has been Operations Director at Exeter for the last 12 years and before that was operations director at Blackpool Airport for six years.

He started his career as an engineering apprentice with British Aerospace at Filton near Bristol, where he is from originally.

A body has been found in the search for missing 24-year-old Dex Johnston.

Police search teams located the body of a man in Exeter Quay this afternoon (1 June).

In a statement Devon and Cornwall Police said: "At approximately 1:40pm today (1st June), police search teams located the body of a man in Exeter Quay.

“Cordons are in place in the area as recovery continues. Whilst at this time we are not in a position to confirm the identity of the body, the family of missing 24-year-old Exeter man Dex Johnston have been informed of this development.”

Sunday 30 April to Saturday 6 May marks Hedgehog Awareness Week, a week organised by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society which aims to raise the profile of hedgehogs.

Hedgehog numbers are in decline due to a reduction in the area of suitable habitat and food sources. The East Devon District Council Countryside team have been working with local people to help encourage more wildlife into gardens and nature reserves in East Devon.
