Australian Cricket Captain, Michael Clarke, has been fined by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching the Code of Conduct in the first Ashes test.
Clarke was fined 20% of his match fee for “using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an International Match” the ICC has said.
Clarke was picked up on the stump microphone saying: “get ready for a broken f******* arm” to England’s James Anderson.
The charges were not contested and have been handled witout a formal hearing.
Sachin Tendulkar, the great Indian cricketer, has announced his decision to retire from all forms of the game following his 200th test match - the second in a two-match series against the West Indies next month.
The 40-year-old retired from one-day internationals last year.
Tendulkar's international career has spanned four decades, beginning in 1989 with a test match against Pakistan.
Born in Mumbai and regarded as one of the all-time greats of the game, the batsman is revered in his home country as a national hero.
England selectors have named a 17-man squad for the Ashes Test series in Australia including three players uncapped at Test level – Yorkshire batsman Gary Ballance, Warwickshire pace bowler Boyd Rankin and Durham all rounder Ben Stokes.

Over 60 guests joined Brewin Dolphin Exeter and Chartered Accountants Francis Clark at a charity Cricket Match at Sidmouth Cricket Club, in aid of their joint charity of the year; The Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education.
Guests enjoyed a BBQ and a cask of ale, donated by Otter Brewery and sold for the charity, while they watched the two teams from Brewin Dolphin and Francis Clark compete on the field. There was a charity raffle on the evening with the whole event raising over £500 for the charity.

Exeter City Football Club Supporters’ Trust is pleased to announce that, following the success of last year's event, a T20 (20 overs) cricket match is scheduled to take place between Tis and the players and an Invitational XI of City supporters and sponsors. After months of dedication, work on the new Heathcoat Cricket Club Pavilion is on the verge of completion at the National Trust estate, Knightshayes, near Tiverton.
All the volunteers who helped with the project are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of former England cricket captain, Mike Gatting, who will be adding final touches to the ground on Saturday 6 April.
Established in the 1920s by John Heathcoat Amory for his Tiverton factory workers, the Heathcoat Cricket Club has always had a strong association with Knightshayes and the local community.
