BARRISTERS at a Westcountry-based law service specialising in family and child law is supporting a new report that calls for parental breakdown to be moved away from a ‘justice’ response.

A 123-page report by the Family Solutions Group said that a legal response to parental disagreements over their children is inappropriate for many, and actively harmful for some.

A FREE legal clinic has been declared a success in supporting families involved in child custody disputes at the Exeter Family Court and is looking to help more people.

An information stall was held this week at the city’s Combined Court to promote the free monthly, Exeter Family Court Clinic. Since the clinic opened in May, a total of 20 families have been helped and during National Pro Bono Week (6-11 Nov) local lawyers are keen to help more people who cannot afford legal advice to represent themselves in a Family Court case and to guide them towards other support services....

Three jailed following vicious Dawlish robbery

Three men have been jailed at Exeter Crown Court (13th October) following a robbery in Dawlish, where the victim was sprayed in the face with ammonia.

Paul Rowntree aged 36 from Dawlish was jailed for 19 years; Rikki Ward aged 28 from Sunderland was jailed for 15 years 3 months; and Ross Morton aged 29 from Dawlish was jailed for three years for their role in the attack and robbery that took place in Dawlish on Monday 30 January 2017.
