Dates announced for Buckfast Abbey’s popular Christmas Market

Devon’s Buckfast Abbey has announced that its popular three-day Christmas Market will return for 2022, taking place from Thursday 1st December to Saturday 3rd December (10am – 5pm).

Free to enter, and with on-site parking available for £5, the family-friendly Christmas Market will feature independent stalls offering everything from delicious food and drink to unique gifts handmade by local craftsmen. Visitors will also have an opportunity to explore the Abbey’s stunning grounds and its beautiful Abbey church, which form the backdrop to the festive Christmas market.

Five Nights of Lights: Stars at Sidwell & Paris Street

The stars will shine bright with fairy-tale princesses and live acapella music kicking off the festivities for Sidwell Street and Paris Street.

The evening’s festive parade will start inside John Lewis & Partners working its way through the store ending outside for people to see the lights switched on overhead in Sidwell Street and Paris Street with a special performance from the Northcott’s Beauty and Beast.

Five Nights of Lights: Gandy & Queen Street Christmas Carnival

The streets will come alive with a carnival of colour, lights, music and festive celebration led by the Exeter Street Band, community performers plus a Bad Christmas jumper rave.

Starting inside Exeter Phoenix, the parade will head to Queen Street and then end in Guildhall Shopping & Dining.

See local community choirs Harmonics Acapella, Unity Gospel Choir, Sounds Choir, Pauline Quirke Academy Choir and Exeter Street Choir come together to sing in a parade of music, lanterns and lights starting on North Street, finishing at South Street. The Christmas lights will illuminate as the parade passes.

If you would like to be part of the parade sign up for the children’s lantern making workshop at Exeter Library (hosted by Kerrie Seymour) on 9 November, families will then be invited to bring their lantern along on the night and be a part of the festive fun.
