Join Exeter Choral Society on 9 May 2018 for the first concert of our 75th year.

The choir started as Whipton Choral Society in 1943, when Exeter was a garrison city, to provide entertainment and community involvement for locals and visting troops. The choir now has over 100 singers and continues to grow, regularly performing to packed audiences.

In May we'll be singing Handel's Coronation Anthems , including 'Zadok the Priest,' Mozart's Coronation Mass and Haydn's Missa brevis Sancti Johannis de Deo .

Exeter’s all-male student a cappella group, Semi-toned, has won the BBC’s national TV singing competition The Choir, Gareth’s Best in Britain.

The University of Exeter students were celebrating last night, when they hit the right note for host Gareth Malone and a panel of expert judges with their renditions of Richard Blackwood’s Anthem of Praise and Señorita by Justin Timberlake.

Karl Jenkins The Armed Man, performed by Exeter University Choral Society

In recognition of the World War One centenary, Exeter University Choral Society is performing Karl Jenkins’ highly acclaimed work; ‘The Armed Man’ in the atmospheric Cathedral. Dedicated to the victims of the Kosovo Crisis, Jenkins intended this piece to have an anti-war stance. Jenkins acheives this through the use of diverse cross-cultural styles of music, including the Catholic Mass, a fifteenth century folk song entitled ‘L’Homme armé’ and a Muezzin soloist.
