128 groups benefit from housebuilder cash

The first £128,000 of a £1million charity giveaway has been distributed to groups supporting young people across Britain.

The funding – from the Persimmon Homes Building Futures scheme – was awarded to 128 different organisations, with applications received from Caithness to Cornwall.

The initiative aims to support community groups working with under-18s across three categories – education & arts, health and sport.

Musicians and medics record stay-at-home charity single

A group of local musicians and medics have joined together to produce a charity video.

The eighteen talented performers have recorded a version of Help! by The Beatles.

And they all played their part from the safety of their own homes.

The video is raising money for FORCE Cancer Charity, which has continued to support local people throughout the Coronavirus pandemic.

Caudwell Children, the national charity that provides practical and emotional support to disabled children and their families, has announced that it is to extend its programme of online activity sessions, for disabled children, across the UK.

The 'LifeSkills' programme, open to disabled children and those with additional needs aged 8-18, will be delivered through online video calls, three times a week, and has been designed to encourage children and their families to participate in activities outside a school setting.

Specialist insurer Ecclesiastical is giving away another £1million to charities with the return of its Movement for Good awards.

In 2019 more than 2,300 kind-hearted Devon residents voted for over 140 charities across the region.
