Former residents speak in support of threatened Exeter homeless project

Former residents of an Exeter project which provides accommodation and support for people at risk of homelessness or rough sleeping, say they fear lives could be at risk if it closes under proposed council cuts.

Gabriel House has played a central role in preventing homelessness and rough sleeping in Exeter for more than 10 years.

Employing 11 staff, 42 residents are supported 24/7 to address health problems, develop life skills and work with other services to build support networks, before moving into sustainable accommodation.

Honiton based Ramer Sponges has donated 400 sponges to two local charities, helping to support the community and those in need.

The UK’s leading manufacturer of super soft and super absorbent sponge products for beauty and body care has donated sponges to the Exeter Baby Bank Network and Hospiscare for Mid and East Devon. The 24th Nello bike ride will take place on Sunday 25th June 2023.

Since the first Nello Century Cycle Challenge in 2000, the ride has raised more than £1.2m for FORCE Cancer Charity, which works locally to support anyone affected by cancer, face-to-face and close to home.

The ride has grown from attracting a field of 90 cyclists in that first year to regularly filling up to its 1,500 capacity. Choose from two great routes and be a part of this very special ride.

A team from Michelmores has taken part in a relay to celebrate the return of their 5k Charity Run, taking place on Thursday 8 September 2022.

The annual charity run took a short hiatus during the pandemic but returns for 2022, at a new venue. In its first 20 years, the Michelmores 5k Charity Run took place in the centre of Exeter, starting at the Cathedral Green and running around the city. Exeter City Supporters’ Trust members from USA donate season tickets to local charity

Exeter City football supporters, Richard and Karen Jarvis, who live 5,000 miles from St James Park in El Paso, Texas have donated their season tickets to local charity, Exeter Community Initiatives, to distribute to people needing a special day out.

Devonshire Homes continues to support disadvantaged young people with £2,900 donation

West Country house builder Devonshire Homes has donated a further £2,900 to the William Wates Memorial Trust.
