FORCE Cancer Charity has launched a campaign to increase support for people living with incurable cancer.

Let’s Face Cancer Together aims to raise awareness of the unique way FORCE is supporting a patient group for whom there is very little dedicated support available.

Devon’s Buckfast Abbey has announced that Philip Arkwright been appointed by the board of Trustees to the position of Chief Executive Officer. Philip has been employed by the Abbey since 2013, originally as Organist & Master of the Music, but most recently in the senior role of Strategic Operations Manager with responsibility for the charitable and religious aspects of the Abbey.

Global gathering at Buckfast Abbey celebrates rare ordination of monks to the priesthood

Monks and priests from around the world gathered at Devon’s Buckfast Abbey earlier this month to celebrate the rare ordination of two monks, Dom Andrew Prickett and Dom John George, to the priesthood.

Typically taking five years to complete, the formation for the Roman Catholic priesthood is a unique and increasingly uncommon event in the UK. It not only requires many years of study in philosophy and theology, but also a deepening of discipleship and personal holiness.

Dates announced for Buckfast Abbey’s popular Christmas Market

Devon’s Buckfast Abbey has announced that its popular three-day Christmas Market will return for 2022, taking place from Thursday 1st December to Saturday 3rd December (10am – 5pm).

Free to enter, and with on-site parking available for £5, the family-friendly Christmas Market will feature independent stalls offering everything from delicious food and drink to unique gifts handmade by local craftsmen. Buckfast Abbey hosts special musical preview event to launch new CD

On Sunday 15th May, South Devon’s Buckfast Abbey will host a launch event for a new CD which features the complete organ music of Father Sebastian Wolff – a former respected Organist at Buckfast Abbey.

The event has been organised to celebrate Wolff’s significant contribution to the world of organ music in the twentieth century, and will take the form of a 30-minute concert recital and presentation of the CD in the Abbey Church, followed by a drinks reception with Fr Sebastian in the Abbey’s newly refurbished Schiller Hall.

Buckfast Abbey offers rare opportunity for 12 Men to join its Holy Week Vocations Discernment Retreat

Buckfast Abbey, in South Devon, has announced that it will be celebrating Holy Week this year with an initiative to host twelve men who may be considering a vocation to the priesthood or religious life. In a first for the Abbey, the 12 men - reflective of the 12 disciples - will be invited to join the Monastic Community to share their journey through the holiest of weeks in the liturgical year.
