Exeter housebuilder invests £5.4 million into local community

A South West housebuilder is injecting more than £5.4 million into the Exeter community.

As part of its St Michaels’s Meadow development, on Chudleigh Road, which will provide 206 three and four-bedroom homes, Redrow South West has confirmed it is investing over £5.4 million into the area.

As part of the housebuilder's commitment to creating thriving communities, Redrow is contributing over £1.1 million to education services. This will include over £384,000 to support local secondary schools and a further £384,000 will be invested into primary schools.

An Exeter housebuilder is encouraging the community to embrace the nature on their doorstep by offering free bug quest kits to local children.

Appeal after collision in Exeter

Police investigating a road traffic collision in Alphington, Exeter, involving a car and a pedestrian, are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Officers were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a grey Ford Focus and a female pedestrian in Church Road, Alphington, at around 8.45am on Friday 26 August.

As a result of the collision, the pedestrian, a woman in her 60s, sustained life changing injuries and was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

Tilia Homes acquires land in Exeter

Tilia Homes has purchased a 10-acre parcel of land at Shillingford Road in Exeter, as it seeks to expand its property portfolio into this historic city.

The site is located in Alphington and has outline planning permission in place for more than 100 homes. 30% of the homes will be allocated as affordable properties in a mix of social rent and share ownership tenures, and Tilia Homes will be making a significant financial contribution to the local area through the Section 106 agreement. Young litter pickers described as “environmental champions”

A group of schoolchildren have been praised for their efforts after organising a litter pick in Exeter.

The youngsters from Alphington Primary School gave up their Saturday to tidy up their neighbourhood.

Cllr David Harvey, Lead Councillor for City Management, described the youngsters as “environmental champions” and encouraged others to follow their lead.

The youngsters picked up enough litter to fill three big bags plus a box full of sharp edges.

Leading Devon housebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes has built a custom-designed bat roost alongside the new homes on its new development outside Exeter.

Specifically designed to encourage up to five species of bat, including the very rare greater and lesser horseshoe bats, the roosting barn at Victoria Heights , on the outskirts of Alphington is now ready for habitation.
