Exeter success story continues

The UK’s leading equity crowdfunding platform, Crowdcube, is launching its first high-impact advertising campaign to further boost its growing investor community, which reached the 100,000 mark last week.

The advertising campaign, created by ad agency, Chapter, will see Crowdcube take over Bank Tube Station, along with 100 branded taxis throughout the capital.

Crowdcube’s forecasts suggest that by the end of 2014 it will have attracted more than 50,000 investors to its platform, a 50% increase in just 12 months. The business expects to add another 50,000+ in 2015, therefore...

Chalk & Ward Advertising is celebrated a year in their new building on Southernhay last month. The move from the Quay in March 2013 has proven a very successful one, Managing Director Robert Chalk says;

“It’s hard to believe that we’ve been in Southernhay a year already. Time flies when you’re having fun, or at least when you’re busy! I’d like to think we’ve had a healthy mix of both.

It’s certainly been a crazy 12 months since we moved. We’ve taken on 5 new members of staff and won a staggering 17 new clients, including The Met Office, The Big Cake Show, Bradburys and...

In this video local business expert Richard Frayne from Quick Print considers whether print is still crucial for marketing.

Richard describes how he thinks print and email marketing can go together.

“Businesses are often keen to follow the latest trends to market their business and are forgetting about a medium that has been a success for over 2000 years. The power of print should never be underestimated and must be utilised within your marketing campaign. The arrival of QR codes has seen advertising campaigns benefit print by directing the consumer to a product with no...

Youth Appeal

Most people reading this blog won’t be in their teens but I wonder how many will want to appeal to the youth market but haven’t a clue how to go about it! When your customers are literally dying off the page or your products or services are just not appealing to a younger market any more it can be tempting to bury your head in the sand and hope that things will get better, but many businesses know to their cost – they don’t!

There is no magic answer but one thing’s for sure the savvy businesses know that to reach a young target market, a number of things need to be considered:...

Pooch Power!!

Is it just this country that’s nuts about animals in advertising? Everywhere in our office we’ve got pictures of pooches looking adoringly down at us from calendars and wall hangings – we just can’t get enough of them and it would seem nor can anyone else.

Even Go Compare has resorted to using a scruffy little dog to get everyone going gaga, and how popular is the EDF ad with Zingy riding his new friend Morgan the Bassett Hound's back? Just recently ‘Three’ used a moon-walking Shetland pony in its national advertising, which went viral and was watched on YouTube 2.7 million times,...

Are We Making the Most of Contacts?

How many times do we go to networking events, exchange business cards with several individuals and then… not follow up! We are all guilty of this to a lesser or greater degree and yet we have made the initial investment in the design, print and exchange of cards, attending the function and introducing ourselves, so what goes wrong?

Is it our typical British reserve? Why do we feel so awkward about making follow up contact? Could it be that our expectations are so high that it stops us from thinking about the most appropriate approach? Is it that we feel that it’s obvious these...

No-onecaresaboutme.com!

Is this what your website would say if it had a voice? How many of you have invested your time and in some cases, a not inconsequential amount of money, in a website only to leave it floundering out there in cyberspace fighting for its intergalactic life! Out of date information, typos, old images, missing information on built pages, outdated screen sizes, links that don’t work, no social media links and half-hearted attempts to be social, news features and blogs several months old, text-heavy content, poor visuals, the list goes on and on…

And yet, there are hundreds, if not...

Not Enough Hours in the Day? Consider Virtual Support

With increasing demands on small to medium size businesses it is no surprise that many company directors and owners find themselves drowning in a sea of paperwork. Compared with large companies, small to medium size businesses usually have far fewer resources to help them with their day to day marketing and advertising needs whilst they comply with new demands on their time, for instance the recently introduced Real Time Information (RTI) introduced by HMRC. It is therefore no surprise that the shape of the workforce is changing dramatically with many companies wising up to the increasing...

Being One Step Ahead!

How well do you know your competitors? How many times do you keep an eye on what they’re doing? Are they stealing a march on you and if so how are they attracting customers? Many small to medium size companies are limited on time and because of this are not as knowledgeable about who their main competitors are as they should be, but finding out what makes your competitors tick and keeping one step ahead of them is sound marketing strategy and gathering of intelligence about them puts you and your company in a very strong position - information is most definitely power.

Here at The...
