The Exeter Santa Run 2013

On Sunday morning 8 December 2013, the Quay area of Exeter will be treated to the sight of hundreds of Santas running alongside the River Exe.

Ironbridge Runner Events are once again organising the events in support of the local charity Dream-A-Way which provides holidays for disabled people of all ages in the South West.

First there will be a competitive 5k race along the river and flood relief channel starting and finishing on Piazza Terracina.

This will be followed by a shorter fun run suitable for all the family.

Every runner will be wearing a Santa suit...

A first half masterclass from the Exeter Chiefs gave them the perfect start to this season’s Heineken Cup as they blew away visiting Cardiff Blues at Sandy Park.

Rob Baxter’s side ran in five tries – four of them in the opening 40 minutes – to ensure maximum reward against the Welsh region, whose improved display after the break did at least glean them a try bonus point.

Mercury Prize set to announce albums of the year shortlist

The Barclaycard Mercury Prize Albums of the Year 2013 shortlist will be announced at 5.30pm on Wednesday (11 September).

The annual "music Booker" panel select 12 of the best and most significant UK music releases, before judging a winner at a ceremony on Wednesday 30 October.

Previous winners have included Primal Scream, Suede, Elbow, PJ Harvey (the only artist to scoop the award twice) and last year, Alt-J for their debut album An Awesome Wave .

Among the favourites to be nominated for the 22nd annual award, are albums released in the last 12 months by London...

The Moo Man is coming to the Chagford Film Festival 2013

On Thursday 26 September, the film “The Moo Man” nominated and shown at the prestigious 2013 Sundance Film Festival is being shown at the third Chagford Film Festival on Dartmoor.

Chagford Film Festival 2013

Renowned comedian, writer and Radio 4 personality, Tony Hawks will head to Dartmoor in September to open the third Chagford Film Festival.

Topsham Carnival Day

Carnival day starts at 9am with an exhibition by Topsham Flower Club in St Margaret's Church. The theme is "wish you were here" and tea, coffee and biscuits will be available. The exhibition closes at noon.

From 10am there will be live jazz from Take a Train outside Matthews Hall.

From 2.30pm onwards the town criers competition takes place at the Globe Hotel.

Oxjam Exeter has announced some of the artists that will be performing live at venues across Exeter during the Oxjam Exeter Takeover weekend, taking place on 19 and 20 October 2013.
