Council announces even more free holiday activities and meals for this Summer

Children from across Devon aged 5 to 16, who are eligible for benefit-related free school meals, are invited to take up an action-packed Summer holiday this year, as part of Devon County Council’s government-funded Holiday Activities and Food programme.

The programme is to provide free physical activities and healthy, nutritional, hot meals during school holidays, and the council has again joined up with activity providers to arrange the activities across Devon.

Pensioners and their loved ones are being urged to take up Pension Credit as new figures show an estimated £1.7bn in benefit is being left unclaimed.

Currently, over 1.4 million pensioners in Britain receive Pension Credit. However, many are still not claiming this extra financial help that can be worth over £3,300 a year.

It comes as the Department for Work and Pensions today [JUNE 15] held its second annual Pension Credit Day of Action as part of a new advertising campaign.

The Co-operative Bank has given £200 to Kenyan Educational Sponsorship community group which is dedicated to helping young people in Kenya achieve their academic potential, enabling them to realise their ambitions and make the most of their lives. DCW Polymers transforms beach clean litter into recycled plastic bench for Kenn C of E Primary School

Year five and six pupils from Kenn C of E Primary School collected over several bags of litter during a beach clean which will now be transformed into a recycled plastic bench for their playground.

Independent commercial waste management firm DCW partnered with Keep Britain Tidy’s Ocean Recovery Project, supported by South West Water, to organise the beach clean in Exmouth.
